Our first regional newsletter - India

Dear Vegan Leader,

Welcome to our first inaugural edition of the regional newsletter from  Vegan Leaders in Corporate Management (VLCM) in India!

We have put together this newsletter with aim of informing, inspiring and engaging our community of vegan leaders in India. Our goal is to strengthen our network, deepen our connections and elevate the vegan philosophy in the corporates.

I'm Muthu, VLCM’s regional coordinator for India, and I am excited to connect with you.

I seek your support in bringing this community of vegan corporate professionals a bit closer together. I welcome your ideas, suggestions and support.

Our mission at VLCM

Our mission at Vegan Leaders in Corporate Management (VLCM) is to empower employees to create awareness about vegan philosophy and vegan lifestyle within their workplaces.

We aim to equip vegan leaders like you with the knowledge and connections needed to effectively advocate for veganism within the corporate world and also outside. This effort, ultimately collective, helps all of us in building a stronger vegan movement, fostering collaboration and amplifying the positive impact.

Our ultimate goal is ensuring veganism and plant-based living gets its due respect and place in corporates and in the society. We would like to help organizations strengthen their ethical, environmental, and health commitments, and thus, increase corporate social responsibility about the benefits of vegan lifestyle.

Why this newsletter?

Organisations have started to embrace the plant-based trend - especially under sustainability and health perspectives.  At VLCM, we are at the forefront and we need to lead such changes.

We need to keep ourselves inspired and gently push our organisations in the right direction. We need to regularly share ideas on what works. This newsletter is one step in that direction.

We will be agents of change for promoting compassionate, heathy and sustainable food choices inside and outside the organisations we work for. We will proactively connect with other plant-based enthusiasts for collaboration and social support.

VLCM @ India

If you are often criticized for your drastically different ‘vegan’ viewpoints, you are not alone!  You may be a ‘lonely’ vegan at your company or at best a small marginal group, for now. But things are changing and changing fast!

Now, there are nearly 400 vegan leaders in India itself and the number are growing each week and month. You will be surprised to see that so many vegan leaders are there in every state in India - from Gujarat to West Bengal, from Tamil Nadu to Uttarakhand.

Meet few vegan leaders!

This growing vegan landscape across India is driven by an increased awareness of ethical, environmental and health concerns, the impact of awareness and advocacy campaigns (such as Veganuary), and the food industry's growing response to consumer demand looking for plant-based alternatives. This presents exciting opportunities for VLCM India members to promote veganism within their corporate environments and across the states in India.

Displayed below is the geographic distribution of VLCM’s Vegan leaders in India. By clicking on this interactive map, you can zoom in and select a specific area of interest.

For member privacy, we’re sharing just member numbers rather than names. However, if you’d like a few individual contacts for networking, you can enter your request here. At VLCM, we like to see these kinds of requests:

- Names of other vegans working at the same company as you to start a plant-based employee group

- Names of other vegan professionals in your country or area to make new friends
